Position: YOUTH VILLAGE PROGRAM LEAD

This part-time position oversees and guides The Unity Center’s Youth Village and supports The Center’s paid teaching staff who serve our youth from Nursery through High School.

Hours: approximately 10 hours a week 

  • Sundays 8:30-12:30; plus once a month lead/attend a short teachers meeting

  • During the week approximately 6 hours a week

    • strong knowledge of Unity/New Thought principles

    • experience creating and planning fun events for youth

    • lesson preparation and organization

    • curriculum development experience 

Position: PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS PLANNER

This part-time position is responsible for the planning, organization, execution and supervision of current church programs and as well as the creation and implementation of new programs integral to the life and vibrancy of our community and in support of the mission, vision and purpose of The Unity Center: “transforming lives and healing our world” through our commitment to being “spiritually progressive, socially responsive and radically inclusive”.

Qualified individuals will be responsible for producing programs and events from conception to completion. Expectations include providing an outstanding congregant experience and delivering events that deepen connections within the church and broaden our outreach to the San Diego community.

Time commitment: 20 hours a week

Compensation: $2,000/month

Skills and experience needed:

- A passionate desire to serve our community

- Proven experience as an event planner or organizer

- Experience may include previously managed events (weddings, meetings, parties, corporate events)

- Excellent time management and communication skills

- Ability to manage multiple projects independently

- Strong relationship skills and the ability to work with staff and volunteers seamlessly…a proven team player #1

Primary responsibilities

- Advance planning, coordination and follow-up on all aspects of ministry programs and special events including our new “Gourmets for God” program, musical concerts and outreach events.

- Event planning, design and production while managing all project delivery elements with time limits

- Organize facilities and manage all event details from location to the actual design of the event

- Identifying staff and volunteer requirements including coordinating their activities

- Identify and troubleshoot any emerging problems leading up to and on the day of the event

- Propose ideas to improve current programs and creation of new programs

- Conduct post event evaluations and report on findings

Other:

- Ability to be present for the events which could require time during the day or evening and weekends.

Position: 3rd-5th GRADE TEACHING POSITION (SUNDAYS)

Hours: Sundays, 8:30am TO 12:30pm EVERY WEEK, including one staff meeting a month

Skills and Experience Needed:  Teaching Credential (Preferred), plus 2yr minimum experience working with same grade level

Position Details:
Looking for experienced 3rd-5th grade teacher with a minimum of 2 years experience working with children of same grade level.
Will need curriculum writing experience to design grade-level appropriate lessons for the youth each week, using various teaching techniques appropriate to that grade level with flexibility to apply your own ideas & creativity on monthly topic. Occasional curriculum development may be requested to assist with other grade levels as well.
We are looking for a positive, encouraging team member who loves working with children. Experience teaching in a Spiritual Center/Sunday School a plus!

Will present pre-designed (lessons) to youth each week using various teaching techniques appropriate to grade level, with flexibility to apply your own ideas & creativity. Occasional curriculum development may be requested.
