Genealogy of New Thought – S.T.E.P. Class

You are invited to experience a trip back through time, as we explore the beginnings of New Thought and its Leaders. Have you ever wondered about the history of the New Thought movement and how it birthed The Unity Center with Rev Wendy? It’s time to check out your roots!

The Association for Global New Thought (AGNT) writes “the New Thought movement was born almost 150 years ago as a revolt against the negative dogmas so prevalent in the churches of that day. The early New thought movement was driven by the discovery that physical healing was possible through the power of mind and spiritual awareness.”
Rev. Jerry Fetterly will be teaching a 90 minute class that will take you on a journey from Phineas P. Quimby (1802-1866) through various leaders (like Emma Curtis Hopkins, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore) to The Unity Center and Rev Wendy and their impact on this growing movement.
Quimby, who is often referred to as the Father of New Thought, was a clockmaker and inventor who started with hypnosis to heal, transformed into spiritual healing whose methods impacted others, including Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science, and Emma Curtis Hopkins, the Teacher of Teachers who influenced Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, founders of Unity, Nona Brooks founder of Divine Science and Ernest Holmes, founder of Religious Science.
