Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell

Affectionately called "The Rev" by her spiritual community, Wendy has been a force in the effort toward global change for nearly 40 years. Her personal mission to “teach everyday spiritual wisdom for conscious living and global transformation” inspires and informs all her work.

A graduate of the Unity School of Christianity, Wendy was ordained as a Unity minister in 1980. Just a few years later, she founded The Unity Center, a 500-member spiritual community located in San Diego, California where she currently serves as CEO and Spiritual Leader.

Among the first members of the Association for Global New Thought (AGNT), Wendy helped design and participated in all three AGNT-sponsored “Synthesis Dialogues,” which brought together some of the world’s leading thinkers to dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharmsala, India. Additionally, her work with AGNT took her to Istanbul, Turkey as part of the planning for the Abraham Path Initiative and to Tokyo, Japan to present at the Goi Peace Foundation’s Symposium on “Igniting the Divine Spark.”

Ever since hearing the Dalai Lama say that a powerful way to make a difference in the world is to "travel and make friends," Wendy has made travel an important part of both her personal and professional life. She and her family have traveled throughout Europe, Africa and Central and South America.

With a strong interest in spiritually motivated social action, Wendy and The Unity Center community were instrumental in the formation of the San Diego Department of Peace. It has since become Americans for the Department of Peace (AFDOP) and now encompasses all of Southern California.

Wendy has been married for 31 years to John Purcell. They have two adult children, Johnathon who works in the field of Trust and Safety for Uber; and Jennifer, a behavior interventionist working with children on the spectrum.
